Aunty Aurora, I Was Kicked Out By My Family And Isolated By Friends Because I Am Gay

Dear Aunty Aurora: I’ve recently lost all my family and friends because I’m gay. They don’t want to know me and have washed their hands of me.I’m a 29-year-old guy. It’s been so bad that I felt I had no choice but to move away from my home area and the country, as being gay is a crime in Nigeria. I have no friends where I am. I spend most of my time in the house. It’s driving me crazy having nobody to talk to. I feel so lonely right now. I am not sure where to turn to or what to do. I feel as though life is just a struggle and I keep thinking, “What’s the point?”Thanks. Soji, AbesanDear Soji: I can imagine how isolated you feel but you couldn’t have carried on living a lie for the sake of not upsetting your family. But you don’t have to be so lonely wherever you are living now.Photo Credit: Getty
